The Guildford Heat Basketball Club is delighted to announce that the
club is the first ever British Basketball League club to achieve S****t
England Clubmark Level 4 accreditation of quality.
Clubmark is a scheme designed to encourage clubs to reach various
levels of national standards in the community development work they
deliver, and upon achieving this proves the Heat are committed to
providing a high standard level of development for young people in
Guildford and the surrounding area.
Richard Mollard, Heat Director of Development, said, "This is a
tremendous achievement for the club and a fitting end to a brilliant
year for us. Our success on court this year has had a fantastic effect
on young players in the area, and our member****p numbers have doubled.
I thank everyone who worked hard to make this happen, from our Academy
committee to all our coaches and team managers."
"We are 100% committed to developing basketball at all levels, both
male and female, and this year we've operated 12 development teams and
have plans to expand that again next season. Our commitment does not
just cover players either, as we've successfully delivered refereeing
and table officiating courses in the area to over 50 people, many of
whom are now actively putting what they've learnt into practice."
"However, in order for us to continue to expand we will be looking to
train more coaches in the area, and I hope to be able to announce
details of coaching courses in the next couple of weeks."
Sam Spare, England Basketball's Southern Development Manger added "I
am delighted to see Guildford Heat become the first BBL club to
achieve England Basketball 4* Accreditation. It is a reflection of the
impressive progress the Club continues to make and a fitting
complement to this year's on-court success. I look forward to
sup****ting the Club in its future Development Programme.
The Guildford Heat are only the 9th team in the country to have
achieved this accreditation, and this in addition to being recently
named by England Basketball as the country's 10th biggest academy, the
only BBL team in the top 10.
