Pollin has released "the dreaded vote of confidence" to the media on Eddie
Jordan. Jordan used that exact phrase in reply to "whispers" about his
job. In reality, there were no rumblings in the media about Jordan until
yesterday, when Pollin OKed them. The Wa****ngton Moonie Times even
parroted Pollin's desire for 'a true power forward'. Pollin thinks his
worst mistake ever was not drafting Karl Malone. That doesn't even rank.
Promoting Wes Unseld from failed head coach to GM tops my list. It's a

Eddie Jordan is not an NBA head coach. The offense he runs is archaic,
even for college ball, from whence The Princeton waddles forth into Abe's
spotlight. New Jersey's success was in spite of the Princeton, as was the
Wizards' success last year. For the most part, they actually avoid it. I
like to think that's because I've been screaming that the BS doesn't work
in the NBA since Eddie Jordan was still in New Jersey. Eddie Jordan,
however, is not the problem. He is a mere symptom.
I was going to do a long thing about it, but screw it. I just deleted a
couple paragraphs of details in the case. Abe Pollin gets his jollies
doing things like viciously firing Michael Jordan. Pollin bought the
Wizards for about $one mil a long time ago. He's a bush-league owner, and
the NBA has left him behind. The difference between Pollin is now in high
relief when compared to, say, Daniel Snyder, who played with the Redskins
like a Jewish kid playing with bubblegum cards for a while, but he's
PLAYING TO WIN THE GAMES. There's a lot to dislike about Dan Snyder, but
there is no questioning his tragic Redskin fandom. Abe Pollin seems to get
his jollies proving basketball fans are suckers.
The Wizards are the engine of commerce around MCI Center in DC's old
mostly Jewish (Lerner, Landsberg's, Hecht's) 'East End' retail
neighborhood, and that engine is blowing smoke. It's what Abe Pollin does.
Pollin's real estate mogul buddies need to nooge him out of majority
owner****p of Wa****ngton S****ts and Entertainment. Until then, keep one
thing in mind. It's Abe's ball, and don't you forget it.
