A further point is that even if the team was willing to move Korver it
seems that they could have done something better than a pure salary
dump. I seem to remember reading that one of the holdups with some of
the Iverson trade scenarios was that many of the teams were trying to
get Korver as well--and I do believe that most teams wouldn't mind
having him for a reasonable price. Couldn't Korver then be similarly
packaged with Miller (Miami would again seem a logical suitor since
they have been widely criticized for not keeping Kapono) or someone
else to at least create *a lot* of cap space rather than just the
extra $5M or so they get with trading Korver alone. It almost seems
like a panic move when there shouldn't be any particular pressure to
make a deal at least until the trade deadline. And again, at some
point the Sixers will now need to focus even more on addressing the
need for a reliable perimeter shooters since now they have zero
(discounting Giricek here).
