Brutalfacts has five NBA players he despises and loves to see struggle:
Tracy McGrady-Selfish, spineless, effortlacking, team killer.
Vince Carter-Selfish, underachieving, lazy, overrated, no defense team
killer.
Kobe Bryant-Selfish, ballhogging, rapist, egomaniac.
Jamal Crawford-Shot chucking, ballhogging, non defending, talent lacking
dreck.
Doug Christie-Emasculated, ***** whipped, gutless wonder.
So Brutalfacts is troubled this morning. Doug Christie will have to be
removed from the list, because if you're a member of the Orlando Magic,
well
you become our emasculated, ***** whipped gutless wonder. In case you had
not heard, the Magic traded Cattino Mobley and Michael Bradley to the
Sacramento Kings for Doug Christy, or as he is also known Mr. Jackie
Christy
last night prior to the Magic game in Boston.
Now I know, the Magic gave up an undersized, defensively challenged shoot
first off guard (so if you're an off guard, or a shooting guard, are you
not
supposed to shoot?) and bench fodder for a guy who is known as a decent
though not great offensive player and lockdown defender. And we all know
the
Magic need defenders. But this has trouble written all over it.
First, Mobley was the running mate of Magic point guard and anointed star
Steve Francis. During last nights Celtic game it was obvious that Francis
was deeply troubled by the trade and loss of his buddy. Regardless of
Mobley
's deficiencies he was valuable as a leveling effect on Francis, who has
shown a pattern of dropping into deep funks when things don't go his way.
Add to that the fact that the trade was announced to the team just prior
to
tip off of game one on a week long 4 game road trip (and before the most
winnable game of the trip) and you have to wonder what the hell was Magic
GM
John Weisbrod thinking?
So Stevie's buddy is gone and replaced by a man best known for his utter
and
overt devotion to his wife. Brutalfacts has no problem with devotion to
ones
partner or partners, Brutalfacts prides himself on his own devotion;
however
it can be an issue when it screws with team chemistry. I could go deep
into
the Mr. Jackie Christy story, about when she took a punch at Rick Fox
after
an on court altercation between Doug and Rick (just standing up for her
man
I guess, but what the hell is she doing in the tunnel?), or the cute
little
gestures he makes all game long to his wife in the stands, or the fact she
travels on the team plane with Dougie on road trips, or the fact he
doesn't
talk to female re****ters or PR people without her present, but I will not.
I
could talk about how he is such a joke in the NBA that players give Doug
Christy jerseys to fellow players at their bachelor parties (I think this
is
considered the equivalent to a burka within NBA circles).
Perhaps I am overreacting, and it really does not matter anyway cause Doug
and Jackie are now part of the Orlando Magic family. From now on I can be
counted on to defend Doug from attack on his lifestyle, like Jackie I will
stand up for Doug, fight his fights for him, etc. He is one of ours.
I just hope that this works out better than I foresee. Its not so much the
addition of Christy, it's the loss of Mobley and the effect of this loss
on
the one player that the Magic can least afford to lose. Steve Francis.
