Pistons' fans have a lot to be proud of with the induction of the 2008
HOF members.
Pistons' owner Bill Davidson being at the top of the list. In
addition ex-Piston and star Adrian Dantley gets a well deserved
induction into the hall. And even though he's getting into the hall
for his work as a college basketball analyst, Dick Vitale represents
the Pistons as well. He was their coach for the 1977-1978 season
(posting a 30-52 record) and for 12 games into the 1978-1979 season
(posting a 4-8 record) before being fired by Bill Davidson. Probably
the best thing Bill Davidson could have done for Dick Vitale as it
eventually led to him getting the analyst job at ESPN.
And just a note about the NBA in 1977-78. The Central Division of
which the Pistons were part of included San Antonio, Houston, Atlanta,
Cleveland and New Orleans. Detroit finished second to last ahead of
New Orleans and tied with Cleveland.
Congratulations to Mr. Davidson, Adrian Dantley and Dick Vitale. And
yes Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon and Pat Riley definitely deserve
the honor as well. I'm sure Cathy Rush does too, it is just that I
never heard of her, don't know anything about her and, thus, cannot
comment on her.
