Very good game but a frustrating 4th quarter. Pistons couldn't put
anything in the basket until there was about 2 minutes to go. Good
thing the Spurs couldn't either and they couldn't rebound. How good
of a pickup has Theo Ratliff become? The not-so-young man had 7
points and 7 rebounds in this game. I remember when he was the
Pistons number 1 draft pick back in 95. I always thought he was
someone they could build the franchise around. Then he was traded mid
season (97-98) along with Aaron McKie to the 76ers for Jerry
Stackhouse, Eric Montross and a second-round pick.
He's had some serious injury problems over the past couple of seasons
and was nearly out of basketball, but he looks to be back and healthy.
If you saw his interview after the game on NBA TV, you know he credits
Pistons' trainer Arnie Kander for helping him get his legs back in
shape.
Sunday the Hornets come calling and that game is going to be much
harder for the Pistons than the Spurs game was. Hornets are young and
athletic with a super guard in Chris Paul and they just beat the
Lakers on Friday night. Pistons will need to slow them down if they
hope to have a chance against them.
