I know I should know this, but. . .
Let's say Boston, Detroit, and Orlando all win their respective
divisions. Boston and Detroit have the one and two best records in
the East, respectively. Cleveland finishes second in the Central.
(So far, all like it is right now).
But now suppose Cleveland, although still in second in the Central,
wound up with a better record than Orlando. Who would be the #3 seed
(and thus likely to meet Detroit, the #2 seed, in the second round)?
I had thought the answer was "still Orlando, because the division
winners get the top three seeds." But somebody just told me no, it
would be the Cavs, since they would have a better record. -- Joe
