Some quick observations on game 3:
- The turnover by JR, nothing but pure laziness, hurt like hell. Duh.
Part
of a run that took the game from 64-64 to San Antonio up by 8.
- Camby was miserable on the offensive end of the floor. He was left open
constantly, and could have gone to the rack at will. But almost every
time
he got the ball he either threw up an errant shot or took it awkwardly to
the hole and missed layups. Why can't he go up strong like Melo or Nene?
- Ginobli and Parker killed the Nuggets with penetration. Horry and
Finley
killed them from the outside. San Antonio had their inside/out game
working
in full gear, and the Nuggets were hopeless to stop it. At some point do
you try to put Diawara out there to stop the penetration, knowing that you
are sacrificing some O?
- NOT THE REASON THE NUGGETS LOST, but how on earth does Duncan get away
with everything he does without any calls? You could easily create a
highlight reel from game 3 showing how Duncan fouled out. The most
obvious,
a two-handed push to Nene before he grabbed a key rebound. Others?
Several
blatant over the backs, and at least two defensive fouls that weren't
called
(one actually somehow resulted in an offensive foul on Melo). The end
result? ZERO fouls on Duncan?!?!!! Hfs, that is just unreal. I figured
the incident with Crawford could work two ways. 1) Refs could be pissed
at
Stern and the league and side with Crawford, and actually make calls
against
Duncan that they wouldn't normally make, or 2) the refs would be
intimidated
by Stern and shy away from making any calls. It was pretty obvious that
the
crew on Saturday fit description number 2. Unbelievable. It also seemed
like either Duncan or Horry were having one-on-one conversations with an
official during almost every break in the action. What were they talking
about? Their next installments on the refs' new condos in the Bahamas?
- Somehow how the Nuggest have to at least try to push the pace better.
They have the advantage in athleticism over San Antonio, and San Antonio
obviously has a huge advantage in the half court game and in pure outside
shooting.
Oh well, the series isn't over yet, but Saturday hurt. Needless to say
the
Nuggets have to win tonight, or it is over.
