CHICAGO (AP)--The Chicago Bulls suspended forward Tyrus Thomas for two
games after missing practice on Wednesday.
Thomas, a former first-round pick who is averaging 6.3 points and 4.6
rebounds in his second season, will serve the punishment when the
Bulls host Cleveland Thursday and visit Boston on Friday.
Local stories have it that he missed practice without letting anyone
know and the team was unable to find him anywhere. This has to be the
kind of thing Pax is talking about when he complains about "personal
agendas".
I have a bit of a different take on Thomas. I think he came out way
too soon and isn't mentally close to being an NBA player to say
nothing of the fact that he needs to improve his skills. The guy has
all the athletic ability in the world which is why he'll put up some
good numbers from time to time but he's almost always protected in the
rotations and gets sat down whenever he gets into early foul trouble,
which is almost always, or doesn't have a favorable matchup. Thus
far he hasn't demonstrated to me that he's capable of having a career
in the league. There shouldn't be any question of playing time
between a guy like him and Gooden, or Joe Smith, or PJ Brown but there
is and its on him imo.
