If you watched LA vs Dallas yesterday, you were treated to these
insights:
With about 6 seconds left, Dallas with the ball and LA up 3, Van Gundy
is asked if he would foul and send Dallas to the line rather than give
up a 3-point attempt. He says he absolutely would, but that Phil
Jackson absolutely will not. Pass goes to Kidd in a completely foul-
able position, he p***** back to Dirk who hits the 3.
Also late in the game, Odom goes to the line, Dallas puts Bass alone
on the side of the lane with Kobe next to him. Mark Jackson notes
that this is nuts, implies that Kidd or someone should be in the next
slot to help against Kobe. FT is missed and Kobe gets the rebound.
