I love how all these arm chair coaches and managers think they could do
better. Did any of them listen in on the segments where TNT played what
Doc
was saying to the troops? He said exactly the right things to his
players.
i.e., he loved the defense they were playing, and told them exactly what
was
wrong with the way they were playing offense.
Anyone notice that the C's held Cleveland to 72 points and harassed Lebron
all over the place? Sure Lebron had probably the the worst game of his
life. It was far worse than the 1 point on 0-7, 1-5, 2 rebounds, 2 assist
and 7 turnovers in 14 minutes when he was only 5'10 and 7 years old. If
you
want to measure how much the players buy into the coach, just look at the
way the team plays DEFENSE. This team has played great defense all year,
so
Doc must be doing something right.
No, I don't think Doc is great. I worry about him and this team in close
games. However, this team usually avoids that situation by winning the
games outright. That is what the C's have done for most of those 66 wins.
He managed the C's to a victory despite getting little from PP on offense
and even LESS from Ray Allen. If the C's just got a combined 30% from the
two of them (2-18 from the field combined), the C's would have won by 12
instead of 4 and we'd be talking about how the C's spanked the Cavs.
Criticizing Doc on the basis of this game is just weak.
