Probably more like major cost cutting.

Circulation numbers for newspapers are down, advertising is
down, the lead time is ridiculously long.  

Why pay $.75 for a paper that is many hours old and outdated
when I can get immediate news online for free?

The Globe and Herald are getting their lunch eaten by
the internet, cable s****ts.

Newspapers need to find a way to get their product
out immediately.
