Box Score

New York City - Penn women's basketball used a run to get back into the
game in the first half and then another to put the game away in the
second as the Quakers defeated Columbia, 63-51, at Levien Gym.
Jennifer Fleischer scored a career-high 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting
to lead all scorers.

Penn (11-8, 4-2 Ivy) broke open a 12-point lead thanks to a 10-0 run
that lasted two minutes, 20 seconds, while the Lions (10-10, 3-4 Ivy)
went cold from the floor for a little over three and a half minutes.
Joey Rhoads, who finished with 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting, gave the
Red and Blue a 47-40 lead with a trey at the 9:19 mark. Rhoads' score
was followed by a Fleischer turn-around jumper. Fleischer also nabbed
a career and game-high 19 boards for her second-straight double-double.
Karen Habrukowich gave Penn its first lead of the second half, 30-28,
on a three-pointer in the opening 30 seconds. Habrukowich was the
third Quaker to finish in double figures with 12 points.

It began a very cold night on Manhattan Island as the Quakers recorded
two field goals during the first 10 minutes, 42 seconds of the first
half. Columbia took advantage, jumping out to a 15-5 lead on the
strength of a pair of Meghan Kern trifectas and five points from Nicole
Lesko. Kern led the Lions with nine points at the break and finished
as the team's leading scorer with 18 points.

Jennifer Fleischer and Penn would not be denied as the Red and Blue
went on a 17-5 run that lasted 5:08 to tie the score at 20 with 4:10
left on the clock. The run began with a Katie Kilker lay up at the
9:18 mark and was capped with a Fleischer lay up. The junior center
ended the first frame with a game-high 13 points (5-of-7) and eight
rebounds. Monica Naltner gave Penn its first lead at 25-23 with a
four-foot jumper with just 66 seconds remaining before the break.
The Quakers could not hold the advantage as Kern converted a
three-point play with eight seconds left in the half to take a 28-27
lead into the locker room.

The Red and Blue travel north to Ithaca, N.Y. for a showdown with
Cornell on Feb. 12 at the Newman Arena. Tip off is scheduled for
7 p.m.
